Fire marshals arrest person of interest in garage fire

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Authorities have arrested a man accused of sparking a garage fire in Norfolk on Jan. 23.

Battalion Chief Julian Williamson with Norfolk Fire-Rescue told WAVY.com the fire started in a detached garage on the 9300 block of Marlow Avenue. When fire units arrived they found smoke coming from the garage. Williamson said it appears no one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.

Norfolk Marshals said the fire was suspicious in nature. An investigation continued throughout the evening, and authorities arrested 27-year-old Jason Mckenney in connection to this crime.

Mckenney was charged with burning or destroying any other building or structure and burning building or structure to commit a felony.
