Gas leak secured at the Oceanfront

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Natural Gas crews were called to the Oceanfront Friday morning to fix a gas leak that wasn’t secured until late afternoon.

19th Street between Arctic and Pacific avenues was closed to traffic until about 4 p.m. Virginia Beach Fire Chief Jack Crandell told WAVY.com the leak was fixed and the road reopened.

The leak was called in just before 11 a.m. According to Chief Crandell, a construction worker hit a 2-inch gas line.

No injuries were reported.
