Police: Woman falls asleep while driving, flips car

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A car crashed and flipped Tuesday morning after the driver told police she fell asleep at the wheel in Norfolk.

The woman was traveling eastbound on West Ocean View Avenue and hit the rear of a flatbed truck near 4th View Street then overturned around 10:30 a.m. Jan. 6, according to officers. She was taken to a local hospital with injuries that aren’t life threatening, police told 10 On Your Side.

She was the only person in the red vehicle, and the truck driver wasn’t hurt. Police said she was issued two summons – one for reckless driving and another for driving on a revoked license.
