SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A 53-year-old accused of raping a woman December 2013 in Suffolk was arrested on abduction charges stemming from the same case 13 months later, according to police.

William Priest from Corapeake, N.C., allegedly met the victim the evening of Dec. 6, 2013, on Godwin Boulevard and refused to let her leave, officers stated. Police said he then was accused of sexually assaulting her and was arrested the next day on the rape and initial abduction charges.

The Commonwealth Attorney’s Office Direct indicted Priest on additional charges related to the 2013 assault. He was taken into custody Jan. 6 on the indictment of abduction to extort money or for immoral purpose, a news statement from Suffolk Police Department stated.
