JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – A mechanical failure is blamed for a fire that caused $50,000 damage to the Kingsmill Laundry facility.

James City County fire crews responded to the warehouse building at 8525 Pocahontas Trail just after 5 a.m. on Jan. 7. Fire officials say there was no one inside the structure when the fire broke out.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was a mechanical failure in the boiler system.

Fire crews remained on scene until almost 7:30 a.m. removing debris and checking the fire damage. York County and Williamsburg Fire Departments assisted in the fire response.
