CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A new facility to treat children is now open in Hampton Roads.
The Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters opened the area’s first urgent care center that exclusively serves infants, children and teens.
The facility will care for children afflicted by a wide range of things, including the flu, asthma, sports injuries and suturing for cuts that need stitches.
WAVY.com asked the director of the facility why CHKD chose now to open the center.
“This area is a very populated area, there are many, many children in this area who need services after their pediatricians close. So, the goal is to fill that gap between the pediatrician’s office closing and the opening the next morning for children who really don’t need to go to the emergency room, but need care that night because the parents are concerned,” he said.
The center is in Chesapeake off Volvo Parkway. It will be open weekdays from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and open at 11 a.m. on weekends and holidays.
