Sandbridge Rd. reopened after crash, downed power lines

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach police have reopened Sandbridge Road after an early morning vehicle crash downed power lines and caused a road closure for most of the day.

According to police, no one was injured during the single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Sandbridge Road around 3 a.m. The driver, 32-year-old Adam Kyle Richey, was charged with DWI and DWI refusal of test. He was released on bond.

Public Affairs Officer Tonya Borman initially expected the road to reopen around 3 p.m., but at 4 p.m. police announced the repairs would take several more hours.Traffic was detoured through the Dam Neck Gate until the road reopened at 7 p.m.

According to Dominion Virginia Power’s website, 1,327 customers were affected by the power outage. All power was restored by 8 a.m.
