NNPD: Man threatened ex-girlfriend with gun

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News Police have arrested a man accused of threatening his ex-girlfriend with a handgun.

Darian L. Murphy, 41, was arrested Monday after police say he used a gun to threaten his 40-year-old ex-girlfriend on Sunday around 6:30 p.m., near 35th Street and Marshall Avenue.

Police say during the assault, Murphy shattered his car’s window and began choking his ex-girlfriend. He then pushed her against the broken window. According to police, she suffered multiple lacerations to her hand from the broken glass and was treated at a local hospital.

Murphy was arrested on outstanding charges of abduction, malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, impede blood circulation, possession of a firearm by a felon, brandishing a firearm, and reckless handling of a firearm.
