Attempted robbery at Portsmouth Rite-Aid

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Portsmouth Police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred in the 900 block of Hodges Ferry Road on Sunday.

Police confirm that a call was received by emergency communications around 6:00 p.m. alerting them of the attempted robbery

According to detectives, a male suspect entered the Rite-Aid Pharmacy and waited at the the cash register.

Once an employee approached the register the suspect implied that he was armed with a gun and demanded the employee give him money.

The employee told the suspect that they could not give him money and the suspect fled from the business.

The suspect left the business empty handed and nobody was injured during the incident.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt, a blue bandana over the lower portion of his face and sunglasses over his eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Portsmouth Police.
