Crash involving tractor-trailer sends person to hospital

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – One person was transported to a local hospital Sunday night after a vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer.

Portsmouth emergency communications confirmed dispatchers received a 911 call around 9:40 p.m. about the crash at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and George Washington Highway.

On Monday, Detective Misty Holley said the driver of a car was trying to pass a tractor-trailer when the vehicle collided with the trailer part of the truck.

The car driver sustained a head injury, although it was not life-threatening, and was charged with reckless driving.

Holley said the passenger of the car received minor injuries, and the tractor-trailer driver was uninjured.
