RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) — The University of Richmond athletic department wants the public’s help in naming its live spider mascot.

Fans will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite name for the only spider mascot in the NCAA Division.

The 1-year-old greenbottle tarantula is native to Venezuela, but this one was bred in Utah and transported to Richmond. The spider is there for most home men’s and women’s basketball games.

The name choices are: Ocho, Tarrant, Webra, Alley-Oop and Annette. Cast your vote, here.

The winning name will be announced at the Davidson home game on Jan. 17.
