Portsmouth, Va. (WAVY) – A Portsmouth mom called 10 On Your Side saying someone broke into her home and stole all off the Christmas gift she’d bought for her children.
Carolyn Pettaway says Christmas day started as they always do for her and her 2 daughters. The girls woke up early and opened their gifts. The family then went to her parent’s house in Suffolk.
When she returned, she found her screen pulled from her window and the gifts gone.
“It was clothes they had gotten, their new shoes, their tablets and the Wii and the games that came with it. I just was like, ‘Oh my gosh.’ I was heartbroken and I couldn’t believe that somebody would do that to me,” Pettaway said.
She told 10 On Your Side it took her several months to save up enough money to buy the gifts for her girls. It may take several more to be able to replace everything.
Pettaway called Portsmouth police and got an information sheet with a case number. She says police dusted for prints, but she doesn’t think they have arrested anyone.
