SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Police released new information on the suspect in a Friday morning attempted abduction of a 4-year-old.
The child was waiting for the Elephants Fork Elementary school bus around 8:30 a.m. near North Broad Street and Third Avenue when an unknown man walked up and grabbed him. The man left the area without harming the child.
Police interviewed the child and witnesses and released an updated description of the suspect on Dec. 18. He is described as a black male, about 6 feet tall, between 30 to 40 years old, with no facial hair. He had skinny arms, but was described as possibly being chubby. The suspect was wearing a black knit hat, black pants, blue sneakers and a black zip-up sweatshirt with a hoody. Police released a picture of a hoody similar to the one described. See above.
The investigation is ongoing.
Suffolk Public Schools spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw said EFES sent a letter home to parents and guardians about the incident Friday. The principal also sent a “phone blast” via School Messenger and held a staff meeting at the end of the school day.
