Magnitude 3.0 earthquake reported south of Lenoir

LENOIR, N.C. (AP) — No injuries have been reported after an early morning earthquake in Caldwell County.

The U.S. Geological Survey says on its website that a magnitude 3.0 earthquake happened just before 2 a.m. Monday about nine miles north of Lenoir.

Some residents tell local media outlets that the earthquake sounded like an explosion, shaking homes and rattling windows.

No injuries have been reported.
