FRANKLIN, Va. (WAVY) — The suspect in Friday’s fatal shooting of a vehicle passenger turned himself in to police Tuesday.
Detectives developed 23-year-old Joseph McDonald Lynch Jr. as a suspect in the murder of 22-year-old Martinez D. Hill.
Hill was shot in the head while riding in a vehicle in the 1400 block of Rosewood Avenue. Detectives said Hill was hit when someone was shooting into the vehicle. The driver dropped Hill off at a local hospital, and he died hours later.
Lynch, a Franklin resident who goes by the street name “Chunk,” wash charged with the following: murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and discharging a firearm in public, resulting in death.
Lynch is being held in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail, without bond.
