Teen accused of bringing knife to school

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police say they found a three-inch knife in the possession of a 17-year-old student at King’s Fork High School.

On Thursday around 1 p.m., a school resource officer responded to a classroom at the high school following a report of a male student with a knife.

A preliminary investigation revealed, a verbal altercation had initially taken place where the student allegedly threw hair at a fellow student. Police say the student with the knife did not threaten any students with the weapon.

Petitions have been secured for simple assault, possession of a weapon on school property and disorderly conduct.

Suffolk Public Schools says the teen was suspended from school and has been recommended for expulsion.
