MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — For 30 years, members of the Mason City Recreation Department have been answering letters sent to Santa Claus.
Staffers say they’re still surprised by some of the requests from children.
The Mason City Globe Gazette reports one boy wrote that he wants a blue dinosaur, snowflakes and some cake for Christmas. Another boy says he just wants a puppy. Other requests include Barbie dolls and electronics.
But some children are asking Santa for more essential items like clothing and food. Several have asked Santa to help their parents find a job.
The Mason City Post Office forwards letters it receives addressed to Santa to the Recreation Department so its workers can help answer them.
