HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton Roads Transit will buy two new buses and rehabilitate 38 next year as part of the agency’s ongoing program to rebuild its fleet.
HRT’s governing board voted to spend more than $3 million for the project, according to a Thursday press release. A Chesapeake company, Cummins Atlantic LLC, was awarded the contract to repower the 38 buses.
“Maintaining our fleet is among the most important efforts we undertake,” HRT President and CEO William Harrell said. “Turning outside for this work will help keep as many fully operational vehicles in service as possible.”
