CHARLOTTES, Va. (WAVY) – Talk about perfect timing. The same day he’s sent back to the Norfolk Admirals from NHL parent club Anaheim, Rikard Rakell slaps home a game-winner in overtime to beat the Charlotte Checkers on the road.
While Rakell put the game away, it was Nick Kerdilles who saved the Admirals with just over two minutes to go. With Norfolk trailing 2-0, Kerdilles scored late in the 17th minute to cut the Charlotte lead in half. With :38 seconds left in the game, Kerdilles struck again, sending home the tying goal and sending his team to overtime.
The Admirals have now won three of their last four games with an outing at Springfield set for Friday.
