NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – U.S. marshals have captured the man accused in the homicide of a teenager last month.
Just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, authorities learned 26-year-old William A. Hamlin Jr. was staying at a residence in the 900 block of Butts Street in Chesapeake, according to Deputy U.S. Marshal Timothy Alley. After watching the home, deputies spotted Hamlin inside and task force officers surrounded the residence.
After a brief standoff, Hamlin exited the residence and was arrested. He is charged in Norfolk with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The charges are related to the shooting death of 17-year-old Joel Green, which happened November 9, in the 200 block of Hough Avenue.
Hamlin is being held in the Chesapeake City Jail, awaiting extradition to Norfolk.
