HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police have confirmed there were no shots fired inside a Hampton Walmart, however, they are now investigating the incident as a “firearm discharged” outside the store parking lot.

Hampton Police were dispatched around 10:33 a.m. Tuesday for a reported shooting at the Walmart along the 1900 block of Cunningham Drive. At this time, it remains unclear who called in the shooting.

Cpl. Mary Shackelford with Hampton Police told WAVY.com there were no victims and no property was struck. Shackelford confirmed the incident is being investigated as “discharging a firearm in public,” as the incident occurred in the parking lot outside of the business.

At noon, WAVY’s Anita Blanton stopped by the store and said there were no disturbances, no police on scene and it was business as usual.
