Man killed in early morning motorcycle accident

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk Police were called to the intersection of W. Princess Anne Road and Hampton Boulevard for a report of a motorcycle accident, early Tuesday morning.

According to Norfolk Police, 24-year-old Chandler Ferguson of Suffolk, Virginia was traveling southbound on Hampton Boulevard, on a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle, when he lost control of his motorcycle and ran into a curb, shortly before 2 a.m.

The motorcycle struck a tree and Ferguson was pronounced dead shortly after. Police say speed appears to have played a factor in the accident; however, it is unknown if alcohol was involved at this time.

Police closed Hampton Boulevard from Redgate Avenue to 21st Street. The road reopened to traffic around 6 a.m.
