NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A local developer wants to build apartments and townhouses along a prime piece of waterfront property in Norfolk.
10 On Your Side got a copy of the proposed plans for Newport Avenue just north of Granby Elementary School. The developer, Arthur Collins, already owns the land. He’s the same man who’s built downtown projects like 388 Boush, Pier Point at Freemason and Riverpark at Freemason.
The area is near the Ward’s Corner and Talbot Hall neighborhoods. It would be called Westport Commons. Right now an older apartment buildings occupy the site. They would be torn down.
But the developer needs zoning approval from the city planning commission.
