HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Department of Transportation is encouraging motorists to put their holiday travel plans on hold until the weather gets better.
Snow and mixed precipitation across parts of the state have impacted I-81, I-64 in August County and I-95 in Northern Virginia, according to a press release. VDOT stated people traveling in the western and central regions of the Commonwealth should postpone any driving until the conditions improve.
Crews will continue treating icy areas and plow snow. Holiday traveling congestion could complicate and delay those efforts, the release stated.
Current road conditions are considered minor or moderate in Bristol, Salem, Staunton and Culpeper.
