PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – More than 1700 power customers in Portsmouth experienced outages Wednesday.
There were two incidents. The first was on Portsmouth Boulevard and Main Street. A cross-arm that holds the wires broke, according to Dominion Virginia Power. This impacted about 400 customers.
The second outage was a larger one, located at Greenbrook Drive and Cedar Lane. Janell Hancock with Dominion Virginia Power did not have a cause for this outage, but confirmed that it knocked out power to about 1300 customers.
WAVY.com received a photo via ReportIt@wavy.com which showed a dark cafeteria at Churchland Academy.
Power was restored in both areas within a couple hours.
