NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police have charged one of the four people located after a high-speed chase Wednesday morning. It began when officials received reports of possible vandalism at a Norfolk business.
Dominique Cherry, 26, was accused of destruction of property, the release stated. He has been released as of now, according to authorities.
Norfolk officers have not confirmed who was driving the car and said Cherry is the only one charged at this point. The other three people, two women and a man, were detained but not charged.
Norfolk Police responded to the report of possible vandalism at the Artist Box Studio located at 7821 N. Military Highway, shortly after 4:30 a.m.
As police officers arrived at the business they noticed a possible suspect vehicle and attempted to stop the car. However, the car fled at a high rate of speed, and entered Interstate 64 eastbound. Due to the speed, the officer stopped pursuing the vehicle.
Officers then exited off the Northampton Boulevard eastbound ramp and saw the suspect vehicle had crashed into a guardrail. Four suspects bailed out of the vehicle and police arrested a male suspect at the scene.
