VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Two northbound lanes of Virginia Beach Boulevard are closed Monday, after a pickup truck knocked down a power pole.
Officer James Cason with the VBPD said the closure is in the 4100 block. He said it will probably be several hours until the road is reopened, as Dominion Virginia Power workers have to replace the pole.
A Dominion spokesperson said there are no downed power lines, as a result of the crash. They are all still connected to the pole. The crash caused power outages to 84 customers, but power should be restored by 8 p.m.
Cason said one person was injured and transported to a local hospital. He said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
The scene of the crash is near the Adult Learning Center and Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union. It happened around 2:15 p.m.
WAVY.com has received pictures from people at the scene that show a power pole leaning on a beige pickup truck. According to viewers, the accident occurred on Virginia Beach Boulevard, near the , sometime around 2:30 p.m.
Many of the traffic lights will be out because they had to shut down the grid to change out the power pole.
