PD: Teen stabbed while walking to school in VB

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Police are investigating after a teen was stabbed while on his way to school in Virginia Beach, Monday morning.

Virginia Beach Police say a neighbor called, around 6:30 a.m., to report that a 17-year-old boy was bleeding.

The teen told police he was walking to a bus stop to head to Rennasaince Academy when someone approached him near the 500 block of Peak Court and asked for money. Police say words were exchanged and a fight broke out. The teen was stabbed, a according to police.

The 17-year-old was transported to the hospital, with non-life threatening. The forensic team recovered a knife from the scene. It is believed that weapon was used in the assault.

Police released a preliminary description of the suspect. They say he is 6’2″, weighs around 250 pounds and has facial hair. He was last seen wearing a blue vest and a baseball cap.

Police say the teen did not know the suspect.
