SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — All lanes of U.S. 460 have now reopened after officials closed them due to a police-involved crash, Friday morning.
Virginia State Police Sergeant M. Anaya tells WAVY.com, at around 9 a.m., a Virginia State trooper was attempting to make a traffic stop when he was struck from behind.
The trooper was traveling eastbound on Route 460 at the Sussex/Prince George County line, when he attempted to stop a vehicle in the westbound lanes of Route 460. Upon entering the westbound lanes, the trooper was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling westbound on Route 460.
The trooper suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Southside Regional Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was treated at the scene.
All lanes of Route 460 have now reopened to traffic. Police continue to investigate.
