NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Norfolk community is calling for gun violence to stop, after a 22-year-old man was shot to death Thursday night.
A large group of family and friends gathered on A Avenue Friday night to mourn the loss of Sivad Morgan. He took his last breath on the same street just the night before.
“That should be a wake up call for anybody,” said the victim’s friend, Tonya Sutton. “Who going to be next? It should be a wake up call.”
Friends said Morgan had three children.
Just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to the 800 block of A Avenue for several reports of a gunshot victim, according to Corporal Melinda Wray with the Norfolk Police Department. At the scene, Morgan, suffering from a gunshot wound, was pronounced dead.
While the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not yet determined the exact cause of death, Detectives are classifying this investigation as a homicide. They have not released any suspect description.
