ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – Search crews in Orange County went out Sunday looking for clues as police have started hunting again for two missing girls connected to a convicted killer.
Alexis Murphy vanished 15 months ago, and Samantha Clark hasn’t been seen in four years. Randy Taylor was convicted of murdering Murphy in May, and officials said they believe he knows the searched area well.
“It’s a Sunday morning, it’s cold, and there are 150 strangers who don’t even know our family out here looking for Alexis,” said Trina Murphy, Alexis Murphy’s aunt. “It’s very humbling and we greatly appreciate it.”
Authorities wouldn’t comment if tips brought them to the spot, but they say if either are in the woods, they will be found.
Last month, Taylor’s attorney asked for DNA testing. He wanted to see whether Jesse Matthew could be connected to the Murphy case. Matthew is the man charged with the abduction of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham.
