GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Officials are working to learn exactly what caused the death of a man after he was found dead during a hunting trip in Greensville County.
Lee Walker from Game and Inland Fisheries told WAVY.com 47-year-old Jeffrey Edward Sherman of Suffolk and three of his friends were deer hunting Monday when Sherman didn’t return to the group. His friends went looking for him and found he had fallen out of a tree stand.
Greensville Sheriff’s Office and Fire-Rescue Department responded to 828 Newsom Lane, shortly after 5 p.m. and pronounced Sherman dead.
It remains unclear if Sherman died as a result of the fall or from natural causes. The Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond is working to determine the exact cause of death.
