NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police have confirmed a pedestrian involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in Norfolk Monday night has died.
Norfolk Police say 50-year-old Jeffrey Eley died after he was struck by an SUV near the 2300 block of East Princess Anne Road, just before 8:30 p.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed the SUV was traveling westbound when Eley walked into traffic and was hit. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died.
Police say the driver showed no signs of impairment and stayed at the scene following the crash. No charges have been filed as a result of this incident, as the case will be turned over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review.
