PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth’s school board is talking about pitching-in to thank the school bus drivers who didn’t take part in a recent sick-out.
On Thursday, the board will discuss bonuses for the drivers who took on the extra routes last Monday when about 40 of the district’s 165 drivers called in sick. It was an effort to protest low wages and safety issues.
The sick-out led to students being late for school.
10 On Your Side will keep tabs on the board’s discussion.
