NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police are looking for a local fugitive, accused of a sexual assault Sunday afternoon.
Just after noon, officers responded to the 800 block of Graydon Avenue for several reports of a woman who had been sexually assaulted, according to Corporal Melinda Wray with the Norfolk Police Department.
The victim told police a man had touched her inappropriately, then fled in a vehicle.
Witnesses of the incident gave investigators a description of the vehicle and the license plate number. The suspect was quickly identified and a warrant against him was issued for misdemeanor sexual battery.
Wray said the suspect is currently a fugitive living in Suffolk. Norfolk and Suffolk police departments are working together to find the suspect and take him into custody.
Wray said this incident is not related to previous sexual assault cases in Ghent.
