Dog abandoned in Virginia Beach park

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach Police are looking for the owner of an older, white and tan spaniel mix breed after it was found tied to a bench in the New Land Neighborhood Park.

According to police, the dog was found tied to a bench in the rain last Thursday around 8:30 p.m. Police say dog was in poor condition and appeared to have been abandoned in the park.

Animal Control Officers picked up the dog, canvassed the neighborhood and were not able to identify an owner. Officials say the owner has until the 16th to come forward. After that time, the dog will be available for adoption.

Anyone with information regarding the owner is encouraged to call Virginia Beach Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887) or by submitting a tip by texting “VBTIP” and the information to CRIMES (274637). Callers remain anonymous and could be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward if their information leads to an arrest.
