Detectives ask for tips about Thursday shooting

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a gunshot victim was found in Norfolk Thursday afternoon.

Just after 2:30 p.m., officers were called to the 6200 block of Alexander Street for a report of a gunshot victim, according to Corporal Melinda Wray with the Norfolk Police Department.

Police located a man with a gunshot wound, but the injuries appeared to not be life-threatening, Wray said.

The department’s Special Operations Team responded to the scene to help clear a nearby residence. The residence was cleared without incident, and detectives are now investigating the crime.

Wray said there is no suspect description to release, at this time. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
