Judge: 84-year-old not able to stand trial for murder

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The 84-year-old Hampton man accused of murdering his neighbor, is not competent to stand trial.

On Wednesday, 10 On Your Side obtained court documents about David Junior Priddy. A judge has ordered he is not able to stand trial, but could be, with treatment.

Court document: Order for treatment of incompetent defendant

Police say in July, Priddy shot his next-door neighbor, 65-year-old Katherine Flemming. It happened on Shawen Drive, off North King Street.

Police have not disclosed a motive, but say Priddy and Flemming knew each other. Court documents also show, police took a handful of guns from Priddy’s home.

Priddy faces murder and firearms charges. His next court date is in April.
