NNPD: Man detained after threats at credit union

NEWPORT NEWS POLICE, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a man is undergoing psychological evaluation after he made threats at a Newport News credit union, Tuesday morning.

Newport News police said a 26-year-old man entered the Navy Federal Credit Union at 12828 Jefferson Avenue, around 10:30 a.m. and presented a check for a large sum of money. According to police, the man then made threats, but officials have not said what kind of threats were made.

Responding officers detained the man and questioned him. Police say they are investigating the incident as an attempted robbery, but no charges have been filed.
