PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Elizabeth River Crossings says its fixed the issues with its Plate-By-Plate billing process at the Downtown and Midtown tunnels.
Its all part of the transportation company’s Toll System Improvement Plan. The new plan came after drivers complained to 10 On Your Side about billing problems.
Some say they got bills months after making the trip through the tunnels. Now, the new bills will only include transactions that have occurred 60 days from the crossing date.
An ERC spokeswoman says 25 percent of all toll transactions are Pay-By-Plate.
ERC has also started directly notifying customers about refunds and is on target to deliver all refunds by Dec. 31, 2014. Customers eligible for refunds of tolls will receive them by one of the following methods, as applicable:
- A credit applied toward the outstanding balance of customer’s Pay-By-Plate account.
- A check mailed to the customer.
- A credit issued to the credit card account originally used to pay the invoice or notice.
