FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A judge issued a bench warrant Thursday for Jesse Matthew Jr. to be transferred to Fairfax County to face charges related to a 2005 sexual assault case.
On Monday, a Circuit Court grand jury indicted the 32-year-old on charges of attempted capital murder, abduction and sexual penetration with an object. Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Ray Morrogh announced the indictments during a news conference in the afternoon.
Matthew is currently being held in a jail near Charlottesville. Police arrested him in Texas last month after they say he abducted University of Virginia student Hannah Graham in September.
Virginia State Police have also connected him to the 2009 disappearance and death of Morgan Harrington.
