YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A man who admitted to taking indecent liberties with a child in his custody was sentenced Tuesday.
Steven R. Stern was sentenced to 10 years in jail, with 7.5 suspended, according to the York County Circuit Court clerk. That means he will spend 2.5 years behind bars.
Stern was arrested last August by the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s office, charged with forcible sodomy of a minor while providing custodial care to the victim. He pleaded guilty last June.
Stern is being held in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. Upon his release, he will have a probational period, have to register as a sex offender, and he is allowed no contact with the victim.
