SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Detectives have connected several recent cases of large-scale vandalism in Suffolk and Isle of Wight to five people, who are in police custody.

After an intensive investigation, Suffolk police secured a total of 70 warrants for the arrest of five suspects in relation to last week’s vandalism at Sleepy Hole Golf Course and the Suffolk Youth Athletic Association’s (SYAA) baseball and softball headquarters off Kings Fork Road.

Some of the same suspects have also been connected to two burglaries in Windsor last week.

The following suspects are currently being held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail, for the following charges in Suffolk:

  • Blane S. Washington, Jr., 24, of Suffolk, charged with 3 counts of burglary, 3 counts of grand larceny, 3 counts of vandalism, 3 counts of conspiracy to commit grand larceny and 3 counts of conspiracy to commit burglary.

In the early morning hours last Tuesday, 30 of 82 golf carts at the Sleepy Hole Golf Course were damaged, as well as the snack stand, pro shop and kitchen area. The vandalism caused more than $150,000 in damages. The next day, vandals destroyed concession food at the SYAA location, and stole a chunk of money that was being raised for a sick player.

Also in the overnight hours Tuesday, the Windsor Athletic Association off Five Forks Road was burglarized. Authorities say someone stole a few new P.A. systems. Four of the suspects face charges in Isle of Wight County for that incident:

  • Washington – grand larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny and burglary
  • Aaron Underhill – conspiracy to commit larceny and burglary
  • Drames – grand larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny and burglary
  • Toby Underhill – conspiracy to commit larceny and burglary

Washington, Drames and Aaron Underhill are also accused in Isle of Wight for a burglary Friday night at the Checkers Restaurant on Windsor Boulevard. They were all charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit larceny.

Suffolk police say the investigation into the vandalism is ongoing, and more charges are pending in both Suffolk and Isle of Wight.
