Bonnie Day Greene

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – 10 On Your Side spoke Friday with infection preventionist Bonnie Day Greene from the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center to talk about how local health facilities are preparing in case someone comes in with Ebola-like symptoms.

Greene said CRMC has been educating all health care workers and are consistently updating their plans in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“We work very closely with our local health department for education and supplies,” she continued, emphasizing Ebola is a blood-born virus and can be transmitted only through blood or bodily fluids; touching contaminated objects like needles; or touching infected animals, their blood, bodily fluids or meat.
