Scott, Forbes talk about U.S. response to Ebola crisis

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Andy Fox spoke with our local congressmen on Wednesday about Ebola and the United States Government’s response to how it is spreading.

Congressman Bobby Scott told he doesn’t think the response has been as robust as we needed it to be.

“If it gets out of hand in Africa, that is coming here. We have to be able to deal with it, and it is growing exponentially, doubling every couple of weeks,” he said. “We have to deal with it in Africa, and I think a robust response, more than what we are doing now, is appropriate.”

Congressman Randy Forbes said he expects to learn more about the military response to Ebola soon, because he’s on the House Armed Services Committee. He said it’s important to make sure our military men and women are well-equipped.

“This is not what our sons and daughters signed up to do, they want to make sure the government is protecting the men and women in uniform,” Forbes said.
