VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — There’s more jail time in store for the man state police say lead them on a chase through Virginia Beach earlier this month.
Sam Palma, 30, was denied bond in court Wednesday.
Police say he eluded a traffic stop near the Oceanfront on Oct. 5 for having a fake license plate. Then he is accused of leading police on a chase before smashing into several vehicles in a shopping center parking lot along Shore Drive. He then fled on foot, and police didn’t catch him until several days later.
In court Wednesday, WAVY.com heard more details of the incident: Palma crashed into two cars, a fence and a jet ski trailer before he left his wrecked vehicle in Chick’s Beach.
10 On Your Side also learned Palma was previously convicted of eluding police. His license is also suspended in North Carolina.
Palma is charged with a long list of offenses for the Shore Drive incident, including possession of stolen plates, hit-and-run, eluding and driving with a suspended license.
