(WAVY) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is prepping for this week’s national earthquake drill.
This is largest drill so far, and it’s called the “Great Shake Out.” Federal and local officials are coming together to push for better preparedness when it comes to earthquakes.
Fema Administrator Craig Fugate says the goal is to get families ready before a disaster strikes: “Don’t wait until there’s a disaster to become an expert. Become an expert now. Know what to do. Have a family communication plan.”
Nearly twenty-five million people are expected to participate in Thursday’s drill, including dozens of local schools, businesses and state agencies. If you want to see if your school or business is participating, click here for the Official Website with a list of those taking part.
