Knotts Island 911 service experiences trouble with landline calls

CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. — Knotts Island residents were only able to call 911 from a mobile phone Tuesday night.

Randall Edwards with Currituck Public Information told WAVY.com about the 911 issues.

Those who experienced difficulty calling 911 from a landline were only able to reach a 911 operator from a mobile phone. Officials advised calling the Knotts Island Volunteer Fire Department at 252-429-3536, if no cell phone was available.

Full 911 service was restored early Wednesday morning.
