Two cats rescued from Norfolk house fire

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Just after 3 p.m. Thursday, Norfolk Fire-Rescue crews responded to a structure fire.

Norfolk police officers called the fire in to emergency dispatchers, and firefighters responded to the 5400 block of Lewis Road, according to Chief Bill Tull with Norfolk Fire-Rescue.

Tull said the fire started in a panel box, but extended into the attic of a one-story residence. The 22 firefighters who responded were able to control the flames by about 3:45 p.m. They also rescued two cats, which were unharmed.

No one was injured, however, both occupants of the home have been displaced by the fire.
