10 On Your Side got to go inside the new building Thursday morning. Different city departments are still in the process of moving into their new diggs. WAVY.com talked to a city official who told us, the building is way overdue.

“We really needed to decommission the old city hall,” the official said. “It was just getting too small and we also had 127 employees we needed to consolidate. We will make it better to serve people.”

The old building was more than 50-years-old and had major structural issues. The new building cost about $24 million.
